About you

You might already be working as an Associate Director or you have the experience to take that next step.  We expect you to be skilled in a variety of research techniques and practices and have considerable knowledge and experience developing business and delivering high profile projects.

Due to the team you would be joining, you should have experience delivering evidence to develop and evaluate policies across housing, welfare, regeneration and achieving net zero and you would be able to demonstrate experience and knowledge in a variety of these areas.

You’ll have demonstrable experience leading teams and projects, continually revaluating strategies and reacting positively to change and developments. Good written and verbal communication is key within this role as is innovation, team working and foresight, using your skills to ensure the best outcomes for your teams, yourself, and your clients.

About the role

We’re recruiting for an Associate Director to join our growing Community team that works across housing, welfare, regeneration and achieving net zero. We expect successful candidates to be experienced researchers already working at this level or ready to step into the role. As such, you’ll lead client accounts and work on multiple, concurrent projects leading project teams to delegate and prioritise work, therefore ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification and to budget. You’ll also support business growth by proactively managing key client relationships, building proactive relationships with existing, lapsed and potential clients and by being an active member of the senior team, driving the business forward. You’ll review outputs from Research Managers and Research Executives feeding back improvements and areas of development.


  • Have overall responsibility for signing off specifications and data outputs
  • Draw out key findings and make clear and insightful recommendations based on data collected
  • Produce insightful, in-depth and publishable reports
  • Produce thoughtful, creative and impactful presentations and deliver these to clients

Project management

  • Lead and direct project teams
  • Oversee the management of project finances and proactively look for ways to maximise efficiency

Client/business development

  • Develop and maintain a professional, proactive relationship with current, new and prospective clients with a view to forming long-term alliances
  • Proactively action business development opportunities with existing or lapsed clients
  • Work with the Directors/sector head and our marketing team to identify, generate and mine new business opportunities
  • Influencing and implementing our strategic direction and operational plans


  • Direct and manage a team of research executives dedicated to supporting social housing provider clients
  • Facilitate the professional development / learning of all junior team members
