Katy Wilburn, Head of Housing Research

I’m Katy Wilburn

Dedicated Mum, Parkrunner, Northerner and Chocolate Orange lover.

A little bit of what I do

I joined IFF in 2019 following the acquisition of housing research agency Voluntas, where I’d previously worked for the past seven years. I lead on all Housing related projects, including continuing to support IFF Research social housing clients while also looking to grow our broader housing research portfolio.

What I have achieved

I’ve been a researcher for as long as I can remember. Growing up my Mum ran her own social research consultancy so I’m told my first ever paid job was photocopying and folding ‘thank you’ leaflets for face-to-face interviewers when I was about 7. Alongside starting early, I’ve also moved around a fair bit during my career, working in Local Government, Academic, Health Authority and NHS research roles before settling in Housing. The projects I enjoy the most are those with a tangible and obvious social benefit. Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to help identify new ways to support carers, patients living with long term illness or in end of life care, people accessing supported housing and people newly in receipt of Universal Credit.
